A well‑established and growing British manufacturer within the tiling and flooring sector is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join its factory‑based senior leadership team. With over 70 years of manufacturing expertise, the business specialises in cement‑ and epoxy‑based systems including tile adhesives, grouts, smoothing compounds, screeds, moisture control systems, and specialist mortars. The company also manufactures for a number of well‑known domestic and international brands and continues to expand both in the UK and overseas markets.

The Role

Reporting to the Factory Operations Director, the Technical Manager will play a key role within the senior management team, working closely with the Laboratory Manager, Chemists, QC Team, and Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing product specifications and handling technical complaints
  • Overseeing Technical Data Sheets and packaging technical information
  • Managing NBS specification and MSDS software systems
  • Supporting the wider technical team with product‑led systems development
  • Maintaining ISO and BBA accreditations
  • Managing a Technical Assistant
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and technical best practice

The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive induction and ongoing training to ensure full product and systems knowledge.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous technical or technical services experience within the cement‑based tiling and/or flooring sector
  • Strong knowledge of relevant BS/EN tiling and flooring standards
  • Experience maintaining ISO and BBA accreditations
  • Experience managing adhesives, screeds, grouts, or mortars (highly desirable)
  • Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail‑oriented with a process‑driven approach
