We’re looking for an HV Operations Manager to help shape and grow our client’s HV Operations offering. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a fast-paced, competitive, and highly respected part of the industry, where your expertise and ideas will genuinely make a difference.
Responsibilities
- Build and develop business opportunities with existing clients, while reviewing and shaping future pipeline plans.
- Lead early-stage project discussions with clients, providing clear guidance from a design and delivery perspective.
- Work closely with the Business Development team to develop opportunities with new clients.
- Act as a senior escalation point for clients, ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project teams by leading negotiations on variations, extensions of time, and escalations in a collaborative and solutions-focused way.
- Keep clients fully informed during tender and validation stages, ensuring transparency around costs, programmes, and lead times.
- Work closely with clients at LOI/LNTP stage to manage expectations and ensure key project dates and deliverables are achievable.
- Lead and support a team of project managers, commercial managers, and lead engineers.
- Review regular reports to monitor performance, progress, and risks across projects.
- Make informed decisions on project programmes and resource allocation where required.
- Attend key client meetings, principal meetings, internal project meetings, and weekly reviews to ensure alignment and momentum.
- Work collaboratively with supporting departments including safety, procurement, quality, and planning.
- Report project performance to the Managing Director.
- Actively manage project risks alongside project teams.
- Escalate site issues where necessary to the Operations Director or Regional Operations Manager.
- Ensure project commercials are accurate, and all agreed processes are followed.
- Be heavily involved in subcontractor appointments to avoid scope gaps.
- Review contract documentation prior to signing, ensuring clarity on programme, milestones, scope, and risk.
- Support the Operations Director/Manager in ensuring appropriate labour and project teams are in place for the duration of the project.
- Take overall accountability for project success alongside the Project Manager.
Key Skills, Attributes & Experience
- A degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline — or equivalent operational/technical experience.
- At least three years’ experience in HV Operations, with a strong operational background.
- In-depth knowledge of HV inspection and monitoring practices, technologies, and client requirements.
- Proven experience driving innovation and improvement.
- Strong leadership experience within HV Operations.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work confidently with clients and industry peers.
- A proactive, curious, and confident approach to problem-solving and opportunity creation.
- Experience in cable pull-in services.
- Experience in EHV/HV/LV installation, termination, and testing up to 235kV.
