This is a dual-purpose role combining workshop-based engineering and field service work. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for refurbishing, repairing, installing, and servicing compactors and balers, both in the workshop and at customer sites, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and customer service always.
Key Responsibilities- Refurbish, repair, and prepare compactors and balers to a high standard.
- Fault find, test, and carry out pre-delivery inspections.
- Build, modify and customise equipment as required.
- Maintain workshop documentation, stock control and housekeeping.
- Work safely and efficiently, contributing to team productivity.
- Install, service, maintain and repair equipment at customer sites.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
- Complete service reports and obtain customer sign-off.
- Build strong customer relationships and deliver excellent service.
- Manage van stock, tools, and equipment effectively.
- Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience (hydraulics desirable).
- Ability to fault find, read diagrams, and carry out repairs independently.
- Customer-facing experience preferred.
- Welding and Fabrication.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift experience desirable.
Occasional overnight stays and weekend work may be required. Strong commitment to health & safety and professional standards.
