Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals, catering to the dietary, cultural, ethical, and religious needs of our residents.
  • Bake cakes and pastries for daily meals and special occasions.
  • Plan weekly menus in consultation with residents and staff, adapting to changing preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Order food and kitchen supplies, ensuring stock rotation and minimising waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of fridge, freezer, and food temperatures in line with food safety standards.
  • Supervise kitchen assistants and delegate tasks as required.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, and compliant with all hygiene regulations, including maintaining a rota for regular deep cleaning.
  • Understand and manage food allergies and special dietary needs with care and diligence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience cooking in a residential care setting.
  • Proven ability to prepare varied meals and baked goods from scratch.
  • Knowledge of dietary and allergy requirements in older adults.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum).
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
