Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals, catering to the dietary, cultural, ethical, and religious needs of our residents.
- Bake cakes and pastries for daily meals and special occasions.
- Plan weekly menus in consultation with residents and staff, adapting to changing preferences and dietary requirements.
- Order food and kitchen supplies, ensuring stock rotation and minimising waste.
- Maintain accurate records of fridge, freezer, and food temperatures in line with food safety standards.
- Supervise kitchen assistants and delegate tasks as required.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, and compliant with all hygiene regulations, including maintaining a rota for regular deep cleaning.
- Understand and manage food allergies and special dietary needs with care and diligence.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience cooking in a residential care setting.
- Proven ability to prepare varied meals and baked goods from scratch.
- Knowledge of dietary and allergy requirements in older adults.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum).
