Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
  • Friday: 7:30am - 1:30pm

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Press Operator to join a well-established engineering and sheet metal fabrication company in Hertfordshire on a short-term 2-week contract. This position has become available to provide urgent workshop cover within a busy production environment. The role will involve operating press machinery to manufacture sheet metal components to specification, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy are maintained at all times. The company specialises in the manufacture and fabrication of metal components for industrial and commercial applications, working to customer specifications and engineering drawings. The workshop environment is fast-paced and requires individuals who are confident working with machinery and have previous experience within a manufacturing or fabrication setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating press machinery within a sheet metal fabrication workshop
  • Producing components accurately to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Carrying out quality checks on finished products
  • Ensuring all work is completed to required safety and production standards
  • Supporting general workshop production and fabrication tasks as required
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a sheet metal, fabrication, or engineering workshop
  • Experience operating machinery such as presses, guillotines, folders, rollers, or similar equipment (preferred)
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control awareness
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
  • Own safety boots and appropriate PPE
  • Immediate availability for a short-term contract
