Role: School Business Manager Location: Kingsbury, North West London Salary: £52,000 – £62,000 Hours: 35 hours per week Contract Type: Full-time (52 weeks) Reporting to: Executive Headteacher Responsible for: Business compliance, Finance, and Human Resources The School An outstanding small independent day school specialising in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health challenges, autism spectrum disorder, and other complex needs is seeking a dedicated School Business Manager to join their team from January 2025. As a member of the senior leadership team, the School Business Manager oversees the strategic operation of key business functions, including compliance, financial management, HR, health and safety, premises, IT, and administration. The role ensures operational efficiency, enabling other leaders to focus on teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy: Lead financial management to ensure alignment with the school’s strategic goals. Oversee recruitment and professional development of administrative staff. Develop and implement marketing and fundraising strategies. Ensure staff well-being and promote the school’s vision and values. Compliance: Manage statutory compliance and maintain risk registers and insurance cover. Ensure policies and practices meet legal and regulatory standards. Financial Management: Create and manage budgets, prepare accounts for audits, and ensure efficient day-to-day financial operations. Lead procurement processes, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning. Human Resources: Manage payroll, pensions, and recruitment processes in line with employment law. Advise on staffing structures and ensure contracts comply with current legislation. Health & Safety and Facilities: Oversee maintenance, safety, and compliance across school sites. Supervise outsourced services and ensure a secure, well-maintained environment. Office Administration and IT: Manage data protection, records, and IT systems, ensuring confidentiality and security.
