Β£475 β Β£525 per week
We are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist Resource Provision in a large and inclusive primary school in Brent. This is a highly rewarding role where you will work closely with teachers, the SEND team, speech and language professionals, and external agencies to provide tailored support for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), including pupils with autism.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with additional needs in a primary setting and be confident using communication-based interventions to help pupils access learning and develop independence. You should be passionate about helping children progress academically, socially, and emotionally within both the Resource Provision and mainstream classroom environment.
Experience and training needed for this role include:
Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting
A good understanding of autism, speech and language needs, and communication difficulties
Experience using visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, now/next boards, or other communication strategies
Experience supporting pupils with sensory needs, social communication challenges, and emotional regulation
Training in autism awareness, safeguarding, and behaviour support
Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation training is highly desirable
Experience working alongside speech and language therapists or other external professionals would be an advantage
Patience, resilience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach are essential
