Smart Teachers is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work in a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Hackney from June/July 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced Cover Supervisors looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive school environment.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to achieve their best.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising classes across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and lesson outcomes.
  • Supporting the wider school community and contributing to a positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
  • Be confident managing groups of students independently.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
  • Be flexible, reliable and adaptable.
  • Hold a degree or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
