OverviewRole: English SEMH Teacher

Salary: £140-£210 per day

Contract: September 2025 – July 2026

A specialist setting created to provide a safe and calm space for children unable to cope within a mainstream school is seeking an English Teacher. The successful candidate will have a relaxed yet professional teaching style, be able to build rapport and respect with children that have often arrived from traumatic backgrounds, and regulate emotional behaviour with resilience and consistency. The Teacher must provide both educational and pastoral care to some very vulnerable learners aged 12-18. Classrooms are well resourced with designated spaces for independent study and reflection, and a rich and engaging curriculum awaits its learners.

Location: Accessible from Goodmayes overground. Parking available.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality English instruction to learners aged 12-18 in a SEMH setting.

Regulate emotional behaviour with resilience and consistency, providing pastoral support as needed.

Build rapport and maintain respectful relationships with learners who may have experienced trauma.

Contribute to a rich and engaging curriculum and support independent study and reflection.

QTS

Experience teaching Key Stage 2–4

Experience supporting children with SEMH and backgrounds of trauma
