A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Construction Teacher to deliver City & Guilds Level 1 Construction to a small group of students in a specialist setting within Brent. This is a pupil referral unit (PRU) that provides tailored support and education for students who require an alternative to mainstream schooling. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a nurturing environment, can build positive relationships, and is committed to helping students achieve meaningful qualifications and develop essential life skills.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in City & Guilds Level 1 Construction, covering areas such as basic carpentry, brickwork, painting and decorating, and health & safety.
- Plan, prepare and assess learners’ progress in line with awarding body criteria.
- Create a safe, supportive learning environment that encourages confidence and independence.
- Work collaboratively with a small, dedicated team to support students with varied learning needs and behavioural challenges.
Requirements:
- Relevant teaching qualification (QTLS, QTS, or equivalent) or significant vocational teaching experience.
- Proven experience delivering City & Guilds Level 1 Construction or similar vocational programmes.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, ideally within an alternative or specialist provision.
- A passion for working with young people who may face social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or SEN setting.
- Additional vocational qualifications or industry experience in construction trades.
