You’ll influence culture, delivery, architecture and outcomes, while working with talented people who genuinely care about doing things the right way.
What you’ll be doing:
- Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you’ll take ownership of an engineering group made up primarily of contract resource (c.10–20 engineers).
- You’ll set the tone for a high‑performance, inclusive culture and ensure teams are aligned, supported, and shipping consistently.
- Leading and line‑managing a multi‑squad engineering group, creating clarity, accountability and momentum.
- Partnering with Product to ensure squads are balanced, aligned to business goals, and delivering value each cycle.
- Championing modern engineering practices across SDLC, CI/CD and QA, automation‑first, test‑first, and “always ship each cycle”.
- Collaborating with Architecture, Security, DevOps and QA to deliver secure, well‑architected services on a shared platform.
- Acting as the principal point of escalation for contract resource and ensuring blockers are removed quickly.
- Support people operations: hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, reviews, leave and contract‑specific considerations.
- Drive agentic AI development practices across teams.
- Ensure contractors have the right tools, processes and guardrails to deliver consistently and efficiently.
- Report progress, risks and issues to Senior Leadership with clarity and confidence.
- Champion secure‑by‑design principles, data governance and timely CVE remediation in partnership with the CISO team.
- Support GTM with technical insight to strengthen product marketing, sales enablement and customer outcomes.
Key requirements:
- Proven experience as a senior engineering leader, managing multiple squads and c20 engineers across delivery and operations.
- A strong technical foundation, ideally full‑stack, with exposure to AWS, C# .NET, TypeScript, Node & React.
- Deep expertise in modern SDLC, agentic AI‑driven development, testing practices, automation and CI/CD (GitHub Actions experience ideal).
- A strong grasp of secure software development, data governance and vulnerability management.
- Confident stakeholder management across senior leaders and strategic customers; calm, clear communication under pressure.
£105k - £110k + bonus. London & 90% remote. 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
