We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Plant Operator to join a busy MBT facility. This is a hands-on operational role responsible for the safe and efficient movement, sorting, and processing of waste using mobile plant equipment.
Key Accountabilities
- Load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery in line with environmental permit and contract requirements
- Work in accordance with SHEQ policies, including reporting of close calls and incidents
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in site audits and checks
- Maintain strong working relationships with site management and operational teams
- Manage stock control and accurate reporting of contract and non-contract waste
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and site standards
- Carry out light maintenance of plant and equipment
- Support the site supervisor with maintenance reviews, KPI monitoring, and corrective actions
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site
- Carry out fly-tipping treatments where required
- Provide cover for reception hall operative when needed
What we are looking for
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental compliance
- Good communication skills across all levels
- Previous mobile plant experience (FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel, Ro-Ro, TUG)
- Understanding of MRF operations
- Strong organisational and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Waste management industry experience
- Fire Marshal and First Aid training
- CITB card (loading shovel, 360, telehandler)
- Basic plant or mechanical maintenance skills
- Logistics experience
- Knowledge of environmental compliance in waste operations
- Computer literate
