We are currently recruiting for a reliable and organised Weighbridge Operator to join a busy waste and recycling site in St Albans.

This is a varied role combining weighbridge operation, administration and customer service.

The position may develop as the business continues to grow, so we are looking for someone who is adaptable, confident working independently and equally comfortable working as part of a team.

Duties will include

  • Operating the weighbridge efficiently while maintaining a safe and steady flow of vehicles on and off site
  • Checking incoming loads and ensuring they comply with the site's permitted waste types
  • Accurately recording vehicle weights, waste types and other relevant information
  • Completing weighbridge documentation and obtaining driver signatures
  • Checking vehicles have the correct paperwork and EWC codes
  • Reporting contaminated or non-conforming waste to the appropriate Manager
  • Reporting any weighbridge system errors or discrepancies
  • Preparing and checking paperwork for onward movements from site
  • Signing drivers, contractors, customers and visitors in and out of the site
  • Issuing site rules and ensuring visitors follow site procedures
  • Responding to customer and driver queries
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and directing calls appropriately
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing emails
  • Greeting and assisting visitors
  • Supporting the Weighbridge Manager with general administration
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and hazard-free weighbridge office
  • Following all Health & Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as required

  • Previous administration or customer service experience

Previous experience working within a weighbridge, waste and recycling environment or busy industrial site would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.

Once fully trained, candidates must be able to cover the opening weighbridge shift when required:

05:45 – 14:15
