Sort Line Operative

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plant Operator to join our client, a Waste Management company in the Washington area.

This is a temporary to permanent contract.

Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour, paid weekly.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Main Duties:

1. Material Handling & Processing
   • Sort, grade, and process incoming timber and wood waste.
   • Operate machinery safely and efficiently (e.g., shredders, conveyors, forklifts).
   • Assist in loading and unloading materials from delivery vehicles.
2. Site Operations
   • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
   • Conduct daily equipment checks and report faults immediately.
   • Follow all site safety and operational procedures.
3. Quality Control
   • Monitor materials for contaminants or non-conforming waste.
   • Ensure processed timber meets quality standards for recycling or resale.
4. Health & Safety Compliance
   • Strictly adhere to health and safety protocols and PPE requirements.
   • Report hazards, near-misses, and incidents promptly.
   • Participate in site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
5. Teamwork & Communication
   • Work effectively as part of a team to meet targets.
   • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
   • Support new staff or visitors by providing basic site guidance.
