About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an HGV Fleet Wash Technician to join a busy waste management operation in the Wirral area. This role is responsible for ensuring all HGV vehicles are thoroughly cleaned, sanitised, and maintained to a high operational standard. You will play a key role in keeping the fleet ready for daily deployment within a municipal waste environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out internal and external cleaning of HGV vehicles (including refuse collection vehicles)
- Operate jet wash and industrial cleaning equipment safely
- Remove residual waste from vehicle compactors in line with safety procedures
- Ensure vehicles meet cleanliness and presentation standards before use
- Conduct basic visual vehicle inspections and report defects
- Safely manoeuvre Class 2 vehicles within the depot/yard
- Maintain a clean and compliant wash bay area
- Follow all Health & Safety, COSHH, and PPE requirements
- Report issues, defects, or damage using appropriate systems
Candidate Requirements
- Full UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence
- Valid CPC card
- Valid Digital Tachograph card
- Experience working with HGVs or similar environments preferred
- Comfortable operating large vehicles in confined yard spaces
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-focused
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit due to the nature of the role
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in waste or municipal environments
- Knowledge of vehicle defect reporting systems (e.g. Fleetwave)
- Industrial cleaning or jet wash experience
