Mobile Plant Fitter
Location: Caythorpe, NG32 Salary: £17.00 – £21.00 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: 12-hour day shifts, 6:00am – 6:00pm Overtime: Paid after 45 hours
We are currently seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team and support operations within the waste management sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Plant Fitter with strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic experience to work in a busy waste processing environment.
You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a wide range of mobile and static plant machinery to ensure maximum equipment reliability and site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment, including loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers, and picking lines.
- Diagnose and repair faults within hydraulic systems to minimise equipment downtime.
- Maintain, install, and troubleshoot electrical looms, wiring, and connections across plant machinery.
- Complete mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
- Carry out repairs and servicing efficiently and safely.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment performance, faults, and recurring issues.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams to support site efficiency.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
- Report hazards, defects, or incidents promptly.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Mobile Plant Fitter who can work confidently in a busy operational environment.
You will ideally have
- Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Maintenance Fitter, or similar role.
- Experience working within waste management, recycling, construction, heavy industry, or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, looms, and mechanical components.
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns.
- Experience with waste processing machinery such as conveyors, shredders, balers, compactors, or loaders would be highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Strong commitment to health and safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
