Smart Solutions are recruiting for a Loading Shovel Operator to join a busy Energy from Waste facility based in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to work within a modern waste and recycling operation, supporting the efficient movement and handling of materials across the site. The role is initially expected to last for approximately two months, with the possibility of extension depending on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Operating a loading shovel safely and efficiently in a busy operational environment
- Loading and transporting materials around the site
- Feeding materials into processing equipment as required
- Managing stockpiles and ensuring materials are stored correctly
- Carrying out daily equipment inspections and reporting any faults or defects
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Following all site health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Supporting site operations and assisting with additional duties where required
- Valid Loading Shovel licence/certification (essential)
- Previous experience operating loading shovels within waste, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, construction, or similar industries
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Flexible attitude and willingness to support site operations
- Competitive pay rate of £17.50 per hour
- Monday to Friday working hours
- No weekend working
