We are currently recruiting for HGV Class 2 Drivers to join a busy waste collection operation in the Wirral area.
Working Hours
- Start times between 6:00am – 8:00am
- 8-hour paid shifts (job and knock available)
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend work available (optional)
Overtime Rates
- 150% after standard shift hours
- 150% for weekend work
- Bank Holidays paid at x5
Role Overview
The HGV Fleet Wash Technician is responsible for ensuring all vehicles are cleaned, sanitised, and presented to a high standard in line with operational and safety requirements. The role supports the efficient running of municipal waste collection services by maintaining vehicle cleanliness, compliance, and readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out external and internal cleaning of HGVs (including refuse collection vehicles)
- Operate jet wash and cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Safely remove residual waste from inside vehicle compactors in line with site safety procedures, confined space considerations and operational standards
- Ensure vehicles meet cleanliness and presentation standards before deployment
- Conduct basic vehicle checks (visual inspections for damage/defects)
- Safely manoeuvre Class 2 vehicles within the depot/yard
- Report any defects, damage, or issues via the appropriate systems
- Maintain wash bay area, ensuring it is clean, organised, and compliant
- Follow all health & safety procedures, including COSHH and PPE requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Valid Class 2 UK driving licence
- Up to date CPC card
- In date Digi Tacho card
- Previous experience working with HGVs or in a similar environment preferred
- Comfortable driving large vehicles within confined yard spaces
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in maintaining standards
- Physically fit due to the nature of the role
