- AM Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- PM Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to join a busy recycling facility in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to secure ongoing, full-time work within a fast-paced waste and recycling environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Loading Shovel, ensuring materials are moved, loaded, and processed effectively to support daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Loading Shovel safely and efficiently in accordance with site procedures and Health & Safety regulations
- Load, transport, and process recyclable materials and waste products throughout the facility
- Feed production lines and machinery with materials as required
- Load vehicles, skips, and storage areas accurately and safely
- Carry out daily equipment inspections and report defects or maintenance requirements
- Monitor stockpiles and ensure correct segregation of recyclable materials
- Assist with general yard duties and housekeeping to maintain a safe working environment
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and site rules
- Work closely with supervisors and operational teams to achieve production targets
Requirements
- Valid Loading Shovel Licence (NPORS, RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent)
- Previous experience operating a Loading Shovel within recycling, waste management, construction, quarrying, aggregates, or industrial environments
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Ability to work rotating shift patterns
- Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
