About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to join a busy waste and composting operation based in Bicester. This is a hands-on role working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a Loading Shovel to support the site's daily operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading vehicles, moving materials around the facility, and supporting various stages of the composting and recycling process while maintaining strict health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating a Loading Shovel safely and efficiently
- Loading articulated (HGV) vehicles using a Loading Shovel
- Loading collection vehicles as required
- Transporting materials around the site
- Loading tunnels, shredders, screeners, and other processing equipment
- Supporting composting and recycling operations
- Carrying out basic mobile plant maintenance, including greasing and cleaning equipment
- Following all health and safety procedures at all times
- Reporting any defects, hazards, or operational issues promptly
Requirements
- Previous experience operating a Loading Shovel is essential
- Valid Loading Shovel licence or certification
- Experience within waste, recycling, quarry, composting, agricultural, or industrial environments is beneficial
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently
- Flexible to work overtime at weekends when required
