Smart Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Multi Skilled Fitter to join a busy waste and recycling operation in East Lothian.

This is a hands-on, varied role working across multiple departments, supporting the maintenance, repair and reliability of site equipment, HGV vehicles and hydraulic systems.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated engineer who can work independently, adapt to changing priorities and take ownership of maintenance tasks within a fast-paced industrial environment.

  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 46.25 hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs and fault finding across site equipment.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, HGV vehicles and mobile plant machinery.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Support both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
  • Prioritise workloads and work independently when required.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and housekeeping.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Multi Skilled Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Engineer role.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and repair skills.
  • Experience working with hydraulics, HGVs, heavy plant or industrial machinery.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Flexible approach and a strong awareness of health and safety.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience working on hydraulic systems, HGVs or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Own tools are essential.
