A well-established engineering business just outside of Andover is seeking a Workshop Engineer to support maintenance, overhaul, and refurbishment work on helicopter components and assemblies. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team working in a clean, professional workshop environment, supporting both military and civilian aviation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild helicopter components such as gearboxes, transmissions, rotor systems, and hydraulics
- Conduct routine maintenance and overhauls to industry and OEM specifications
- Read and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and documentation
- Carry out inspections and diagnostics on returned components
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records
- Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory compliance standards (CAA, EASA, MOD)
- Support workshop organisation, tool control, and continuous improvement activities
Requirements:
- Mechanical or aerospace engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC, or equivalent)
- Practical experience working with rotating machinery or aviation components
- Background in aviation, defence, or precision engineering is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to pass security clearance checks
