An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automatic Gates & Barriers Engineer to join an established and growing specialist engineering company covering the North West of England. The company specialises in the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of automatic gates, barriers and associated access equipment, working across a wide range of commercial, public sector and high-security sites. The role will involve working on a variety of interesting projects, including major football stadiums, government facilities and other secure sites. Due to the nature of the contracts, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check and must be able to successfully obtain clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of automatic gates and barriers.
- Planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Fault finding, repairs and breakdown response.
- Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.
- Adjusting, repairing and replacing components.
- Working on automatic access and security systems.
- Completing service reports and relevant paperwork.
- Working directly with customers and maintaining a professional standard of service.
- Working safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Travelling to customer sites across the North West of England.
- Working within government facilities, football stadiums, commercial premises and other secure sites.
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong previous experience working with automatic gates and/or barriers.
- Good installation and maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering ability.
- Experience fault finding and carrying out repairs.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good customer-facing and communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A professional, reliable and security-conscious approach to work.
- The ability to successfully obtain a DBS clearance.
Candidates with experience in automatic gates, security gates, rising arm barriers, sliding gates, swing gates, bollards or associated access control equipment are encouraged to apply.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £45,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
- 39-hour working week.
- Overtime available – paid at flat rate.
- Door-to-door travel time paid.
- All travel time and working hours on site are paid in addition to standby payments.
- Call-out rota with additional standby payments.
- Additional overtime earning potential.
