Position Overview

An expanding and well-capitalised EV infrastructure provider is seeking an experienced, high-calibre Electrical Engineer specialising in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of rapid commercial DC charging networks and associated Low Voltage (LV) distribution infrastructure. Based out of the Guildford region, you will act as a territory technical specialist handling heavy power industrial infrastructure (50kW to 350kW+ rapid units) rather than standard domestic wallboxes. This role requires an engineer capable of balancing hands-on heavy switchgear wiring with sophisticated software commissioning and component-level fault diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Heavy Power Integration: Mount, wire, and terminate high-power DC rapid chargers and integrate them into existing or new commercial LV distribution networks.
  • LV Panel Work: Install and configure feeder pillars, switchgear, sub-station distribution boards, and sub-metering systems.
  • Commissioning & Software Setup: Take infrastructure from dead-test to fully live operation, configuring OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) network communications and load management software.
  • Maintenance & Breakdowns: Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and respond to reactive component-level faults (rectifiers, inverted modules, cooling pumps, and payment terminals).
  • Compliance: Complete Electrical Installation Certificates (EICR) and guarantee strict adherence to BS7671 (18th Edition) and DNO safety guidelines.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications (Essential):
    • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation & AM2 (or equivalent).
    • City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018).
    • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or 2394/2395).
    • Full UK Driving Licence with clean history.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Demonstrable track record working on commercial/industrial low voltage power distribution boards and containment.
    • Direct experience with major DC charger systems (e.g., ABB, Tritium, Kempower, Alpitronic) is highly advantageous.
    • Ability to read complex schematic drawings and trace industrial electrical faults safely.

The Package:

  • Base Salary: £38k – £48k (depending on DC experience) with realistic OTE sitting at £48k–£55k+ through overtime.
  • Fully kitted commercial vehicle, paid door-to-door travel, and local/regional territory coverage.
