The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join an established and growing specialist manufacturing business based in the Cardiff area. The successful candidate will be a strong, hands-on fabricator who can weld to a high standard. This is not simply a welding position — we are looking for someone who is confident with the complete fabrication process, from reading drawings and measuring through to cutting, assembling, fabricating and welding finished components. You will be working as part of a skilled manufacturing team producing bespoke steel and fire protection products for commercial and industrial projects. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of specialist fire protection systems and associated steel products, supplying projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricating steel components and assemblies from engineering drawings.
  • Measuring, marking out, cutting and preparing materials.
  • MIG welding and producing clean, strong and consistent welds.
  • Assembling and fabricating components to specification.
  • Working from engineering drawings and detailed measurements.
  • Using a range of workshop machinery, hand tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Checking your own work to ensure a high standard of quality and accuracy.
  • Working efficiently to meet production deadlines.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Working as part of a close-knit engineering and manufacturing team.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a genuinely experienced Fabricator / Welder rather than someone who is primarily a welder. You should have:

  • Strong previous experience in metal fabrication.
  • Good MIG welding ability.
  • The ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Experience measuring, cutting, assembling and fabricating steelwork.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in your workmanship.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A reliable and hardworking attitude.
  • Good practical and mechanical ability.

A formal qualification is advantageous, but strong practical fabrication and welding experience is more important.

What’s On Offer

  • £20.00 per hour
  • 40-hour working week
  • Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:30pm
  • Friday: 7:30am–3:30pm
  • Additional bonus payments
  • Permanent position
  • Stable Monday–Friday working hours
  • Opportunity to join an established and expanding specialist manufacturing business
  • Varied and interesting fabrication work

Location

The role is based in the Cardiff area, so candidates should ideally live within a reasonable commuting distance.
