Looking for more than just a driving job? At Adler & Allan, no two days are the same. We’re looking for a motivated, hands-on Environmental Response HGV Technician / Multi-Skilled Operative to join our growing Rainham team. This is far more than a standard HGV driving role. You’ll be part of a specialist operational team delivering environmental services, emergency spill response, industrial cleaning, drainage works, and remediation projects both local and across the UK. If you enjoy practical work, problem solving, working outdoors, and being part of a close-knit team that responds when it matters most, this could be the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating company vehicles including HGV Class 2 tankers and specialist equipment
  • Carrying out high-pressure water jetting, drain and interceptor cleaning works
  • Supporting environmental spill response operations, including oil, fuel, and chemical incidents
  • Assisting with tank uplifts, industrial cleaning, forecourt PPM works, and remediation projects
  • Operating pumps, vacuums, hoses, and associated environmental response equipment
  • Working alongside experienced multi-skilled operatives on major projects and reactive works
  • Completing vehicle checks, site paperwork, and safety documentation
  • Supporting emergency response call-outs as part of the on-call rota

Qualifications

  • Valid HGV Class 2 Licence
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • A practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
  • Experience within:
    • Tankering
    • Drainage or jetting operations
    • Environmental services
    • Groundworks, remediation, or industrial cleaning would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of vehicle checks and tachograph compliance
  • Ability to work safely and professionally in fast-paced environments
  • Flexible attitude towards overtime, travel, and emergency response work
  • ADR Licence preferred but not essential, training can be provided for the right candidate.

On-Call & Overtime

This role includes participation in an on-call rota approximately 1 week in every 5–6 weeks, supporting emergency environmental response works. Additional payments include:

  • On-call standby allowance
