We have exciting opportunities within the utilities sector for Associates to join our expanding team. Following significant growth and ongoing delivery success with our clients, we are seeking high calibre project professionals to support our clients deliver a wide range of high-profile projects across Infrastructure, to be a leader in the industry and help mentor and develop the future generation of Project Managers. As a member of our growing team, you would be working to help us make a difference with our clients in delivering a diverse range of highly complex projects and programmes. You would be based in our London office and spend your time with colleagues and client teams based across the South-East region. Dependant on client requirements, the majority of our roles support a hybrid working pattern. Associates at Turner & Townsend work on a broad range of projects and programmes across the Utilities sector, including clean and waste water treatment facilities, mains installation and replacement, environmental improvement, asset management, developer service, Major Projects, Strategic Resource Options, and more.

We are looking for individuals with the following skills, experience, and behavioural attributes:

  • Substantial experience of infrastructure project/programme management across the lifecycle, including project management principles; delivering to client objectives; contract/budget management; leadership and teamwork; financial management and project controls; schedule management; benefits alignment; health, safety, quality and environmental management, preparation, and presentation of status reports.
  • Excellent leadership skills, capable of developing teams and leading others in challenging or ambiguous environments on commissions and within your line management. Able to identify and address capability gaps.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, comfortable working with a diverse range of personalities across clients and partner organisations and able to build long-term trusted advisor relationships with our clients.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and numerical skills with an ability to quickly understand complex problems and shape these into workable solutions for delivery.
  • Drive and commitment to achieving solutions, including the ability to work under pressure and motivate others.
  • Create, manage, and modify project/programme plans.
  • Planning, communication, and organisational skills, including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously and communicate effectively with senior client representatives, as well as your team.
  • Creative, curious and growth mindset.
  • Promoter of inclusive environments, acting as a role model.
  • Can identify client opportunities and solve challenges independently, including cross-service approach / reach-back within the business.

Beneficial Experience:

  • Experience of utilities/water infrastructure project and/or programme management.
  • Experience of procurement and managing NEC contracts.
  • High level of commercial awareness.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors on infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of consultancy or client-side project management.
  • Familiarity with public sector organisations, non-departmental or arm’s length bodies relevant to infrastructure.
  • Delivery within challenging operational environments.
  • Proven experience across the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience of working and reporting in challenging stakeholder and regulatory environments.

Preferable qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in a management, construction or infrastructure related subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional affiliation with the APM, ICE, or an equivalent professional institution.
  • Project management certification (e.g. APM / PRINCE2 / MSP).
  • NEC Accreditations or qualifications.
  • CSCS / equivalent.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualifications.
  • CDM awareness.
