This school has Academy status and is part of the SMART Multi Academy Trust; the employer will be the Multi Academy Trust. Required from 01 December 2025 (or as soon as possible). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in further developing our commitment to safeguarding and raising the profile of good attendance. Additionally, we would like someone who positively promotes inclusion, has high expectations for all children and has an excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Ideally we are looking for someone who:

  • Is proactive with school attendance initiatives and engages with families to improve standards in attendance and absenteeism
  • Is wholly involved in school life
  • Has a commitment to raising standards
  • Is knowledgeable about statutory and local authority guidance
  • Supports families and signposts them to services where required
  • Works to develop our family learning programs
  • Develops the school’s parental voice, through reinvigorating our PTA
  • Makes a positive change to pupils and families in need, working in harmony with our wider Trust of schools and outside agencies

  • The ability to work effectively with outside agencies to safeguard children, young people and their families

The successful candidate will be subject to an online search in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) legislation. Your principal place of work will be Cheviot Primary School, Yetholm Place, Newbiggin Hall.
