Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated computing/technology graduate to join our Clinical Computing team in Radiotherapy Technology Services for a fixed term of 3 years.

You will acquire skills in radiotherapy technology through formal and on-the-job training, focusing on the safe and effective implementation, repair, and maintenance of clinical radiotherapy systems and infrastructure, including VMware, Citrix, Veeam, and Active Directory.

Our Clinical Computing team comprises 4 highly-skilled Clinical Technologists dedicated to enhancing patient safety through their technical expertise in high-risk radiotherapy treatment systems and workflows.

We offer diverse daily activities and collaboration with a large department of clinical and scientific staff, emphasizing problem-solving and innovative system implementation, such as AI-assisted treatment planning tools, to improve patient outcomes.

Main Duties of the Job

The Main Duties Of The Role Include:

  1. Complete the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme.
  2. Support the implementation and management of technologies such as:
  3. Radiotherapy pre-treatment and treatment delivery systems
  4. Specialised clinical applications
  5. Server operating systems and hardware
  6. Virtualisation and VMware
  7. Data storage technologies and backups
  8. Domain administration and group policy

Maintain accurate records of work related to medical equipment maintenance and fault resolution. Develop and update relevant processes as your training progresses, working towards autonomous roles upon competence achievement.

Upon successful training completion, you will be qualified to register as a clinical technologist.

  • Perform risk assessments and mitigation
  • Maintain detailed records following Trust policies

Professional Development

  • Teach and train staff and apprentices within your competence
  • Assist in resource management for the effective operation of RTS
