Multi Skilled Engineer

Salary £38,000 - £42,000

Monday to Friday (AM/PM)

We are currently looking to recruit a Multi Skilled Engineer to have responsibility for Engineering activities and standards across the site. Delivering the highest standard of engineering support is of the upmost importance whilst working closely with other functions supporting joint goals and leading by example.

Duties include preventative maintenance on machines and equipment, as well as responding to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant. Involvement with new design, installation, and movements of existing machines. Overhaul and repair of machines, ensuring that all equipment on site is safe to use, working efficiently and fit for purpose.

What will you be doing?

  • Factory Performance
  • To manage and resolve Factory breakdowns as required. Either managing this within the team or overseeing the work of external engineering resources and external providers. Act at pace to give resolution to any issues and communicate clearly to the site team.
  • Provide expertise, develop own knowledge on all site equipment.
  • To assist with the planned preventative performance and efficiency of all engineering plant on site within the constraints of budget, define and ensure the ppm schedule is achieved.
  • Act at pace to complete site job requests from the Engineering Manager and wider team.
  • Provide technical backup / advice to all production departments.
  • Control of contractors / issue of permits to work documentation.
  • Audit recording of materials / parts use and labour hours worked.
  • To maintain a high level of housekeeping and hygiene within the engineering stores and workshop.
  • Strive for the highest standards in machine performance and finished goods packaging standards and do not accept ok.
  • To record, manage and value all spare parts and provide feedback to Finance.
  • Flex hours to meet site demands and work with the site teams.
  • With the Engineering Manager ensure our supplier base is well managed and performs to the required standards.
  • Develop strong relationships with the factory particularly at operative level.
  • Ability to work under pressure during operational breakdowns and challenges.
  • To develop and train key operatives.
  • To work on creating a strong site team.
  • Facilitate the development of an open culture of proactivity where people take pride in what they do and feel a sense of involvement and self-worth.
  • Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out in line with task schedules and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is safe to use and fit for purpose.
  • Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits.
  • Carryout repairs and maintenance to site facilities
  • Actively promote safe working practices.
  • Effective communication – keeping management and relevant parties aware. Seeking advice and assistance when required.
  • To action and complete time/task sheets on a daily basis in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the post and the skill of the post holder.

What do you need?

  • Qualified Multi skilled Engineer with an electrical bias (18th Edition)
  • 3 years plus experience of working in a food production environment preferred
  • Food Safety Level 3 Hygiene Certificate preferred
  • Automation / PLC experience.
  • Good standard of written and oral communication in English
  • A recognised Electrical / Mechanical apprenticeship.
