Founded in 1918, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is the largest democratic voluntary organisation representing farmers and growers in Northern Ireland. Its central objective is to promote their interests both at home and abroad through professional lobbying. Today, the UFU has over 12,000 members.

The Ulster Farmers Union is seeking to recruit a Policy Officer based out of our Head Office in Belfast. This will be a challenging and wide ranging job working as part of the UFU Policy Team.

The job involves assisting with:

  • The development of Union Policy
  • The servicing of Union Central Committees
  • Representing the views of the Union across a range of media
  • The lobbying process

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:

  • Have a third level qualification in a relevant subject
  • Have a good knowledge of or interest in Northern Ireland Agriculture
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be computer literate
  • Be willing to work hard, be ambitious and a good team member
  • Hold a driving licence

The Salary scale for this full time permanent position is £37,070 – £43,613.

Benefits include: 25 days annual leave exclusive of public and bank holidays; employer contribution to private pension scheme; car mileage for travel; annual salary reviews; flexible benefit scheme; cycle to work scheme; employee assistance programme.
