The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

We have a vacancy for an experienced and inspirational visiting Brass Teacher. We are looking for someone who can teach across a broad age range (5 - 18 years), with the expertise and vision to encourage participation and bring the best out of students at any stage of their musical development. You will provide half an hour lessons on a 1:1 basis and would be expected to direct a popular ensemble. This role would also require you to perform at concerts and various other musical events. You will enter students for instrumental exams here and provide parental feedback on an ongoing basis.

Brass lessons are gaining popularity at Northampton High School and the position currently requires a half-day of teaching. This is expected to increase substantially. A positive and engaging approach is essential for this role and the successful applicant will have significant performance experience. A diploma or degree in performance would be desirable however this is not essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide 30-minute 1:1 Brass lessons across ages 5–18.
  • Direct a popular Brass ensemble.
  • Perform at school concerts and other musical events.
  • Enter students for instrumental exams and provide ongoing parental feedback.
  • Contribute to the school’s Brass program and engage with students to foster participation and development.
Role Details:
  • Contract: Self-employed.
  • Location: Northampton.
  • Hours: Flexible (initially a half-day per week, with expectation to increase).
  • Fees: You set your own fees; payments received directly from the parent/guardian.
  • Room rental: Annual fee of 5 for the use of a practice room.
  • Required from: As soon as possible.
