Do you have what it takes to become a Smartgroup Dealer Relationship Manager?

Smartgroup is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Dealer Relationship Manager to join our growing Partnerships team in Sydney and Melbourne.

This is a highly visible role responsible for developing and managing dealership relationships within an assigned territory to drive dealer-generated referrals, increase customer acquisition opportunities, and strengthen dealer engagement and performance.

As Smartgroup continues to grow its dealer network and market presence, we are expanding this capability nationally, creating exciting opportunities for impact, career growth, and influence across the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Drive Territory Growth: Develop and execute territory plans that increase dealer-generated referrals, qualified leads, and customer acquisition outcomes.
  • Build Strong Partnerships: Establish trusted relationships with Dealer Principals, Sales Managers, Business Managers and frontline dealership staff.
  • Increase Dealer Performance: Work closely with dealerships to improve referral activity, adoption of programs, and performance against agreed targets and service standards.

Outcomes: Identify opportunities to increase referral volumes, market share, and dealer participation through engagement, education, incentives, and business development initiatives.

  • Promote Smartgroup's Value Proposition: Position Smartgroup as a trusted strategic partner and ensure dealership stakeholders understand the value we bring to their customers.
  • Collaborate Across the Business: Partner with internal sales and operational teams to maximise conversion of dealer-generated opportunities and deliver strong customer outcomes.
  • Monitor & Improve Results: Conduct regular dealer visits, performance reviews, and business planning sessions, implementing targeted improvement plans where required.
  • Provide Market Insights: Share dealer insights, trends, and opportunities to support strategic planning and business decision-making.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure confidentiality, privacy and integrity of information in accordance with legislative and company requirements.

Who you are

  • Experience in business development, sales, customer success, dealer management, franchise management, relationship management, or a similar externally facing role.
  • Strong experience building and managing B2B relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in growing referral channels, lead generation activity, or sales opportunities.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive behavioural change without direct authority.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience identifying and delivering growth opportunities.
  • Experience planning and managing a territory, customer portfolio, or partner network.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exposure to the automotive, finance, novated leasing, fleet, insurance or related industries will be highly regarded.
