We’re hiring an MLP Gas Trainer for Smart Energy Training at our brand-new Cleckheaton training centre. This role will focus on delivering our Managed Learning Programme (MLP), supporting adult learners as they develop the practical skills, technical knowledge, and confidence needed to enter the gas industry. Training delivery will take place across weekdays and weekends to meet learner demand, with no evening working required.
Whether you’re already a trainer or a skilled gas engineer looking to step away from the tools and into education, we’ll support you to transition into a training career and develop your teaching skills.
What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality training to Managed Learning Programme (MLP) gas learners
- Plan and deliver structured lessons aligned with qualification standards and industry requirements
- Support learners through practical workshop sessions and classroom-based learning
- Deliver training on gas principles, safety, installation, servicing, and maintenance
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help learners succeed
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
- Work closely with employers and internal teams to support learner progression into employment and work placements
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Keep up to date with industry developments and gas safety standards
What we’re looking for:
- Current or recently held gas qualifications including: CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1
- Strong industry experience in gas engineering and heating systems
- Ability to work flexibly across weekdays and weekends
- A passion for developing and supporting the next generation of gas engineers
- Confident communication and presentation skills
- A supportive, patient, and learner-focused approach
- Teaching and/or assessing qualifications (AET, DET, PGCE, TAQA or equivalent)
- Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or apprenticeships
- Plumbing qualifications or broader smart energy experience
- Renewable energy experience including heat pumps or low-carbon technologies
