At Smart Energy GB, we aim to engage and communicate with our diverse nation about the smart meter rollout across England, Scotland, and Wales. We are an independent organisation set up by the government to deliver the national public engagement campaign, raise awareness of smart meters and drive adoption of this technology in everyone's homes. Smart meters are essential building blocks in the creation of a cleaner, greener energy system for the future.
You will support the Industry Relations function to build and maintain strong working relationships with all energy suppliers, key parties in the Smart Meter Implementation Programme (SMIP) and across the energy industry. You will use intelligence of the complex and changing energy industry and needs of the rollout to provide counsel to internal colleagues, helping shape Smart Energy GB’s approach.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders on the delivery of collaborative projects and ensure stakeholders have confidence in the quality and value of Smart Energy GB’s work.
Key tasks / responsibilities- Support the Head of Industry Relations and Senior Industry Relations Manager to plan, organise and execute Smart Energy GB’s stakeholder engagement strategy for energy suppliers, SMIP colleagues and wider industry stakeholders.
- Maintain and develop strong working relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact for liaison and collaboration.
- Lead delivery of IR projects, undertaking research and assessing how Smart Energy GB can support industry to deliver the rollout or overcome barriers. Managing scope, timelines and coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Monitor industry developments and assess implications for the rollout. Topics will be diverse, including deployment and activity plans, regulatory and policy changes, customer journeys and technical solutions.
- Cascade relevant information internally, through the creation of clear briefs and maintenance of up-to-date materials.
- Work with Smart Energy GB colleagues to understand our Marketing, Communications, Corporate Affairs and Insights activity to identify how energy suppliers can leverage and align with our work and effectively communicate this.
- Participate in external forums and meetings and represent Smart Energy GB as required, including developing presentation materials and presenting as well as updating colleagues on key information relevant to Smart Energy GB.

- Excellent at building and managing relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including at a senior level.
- Experience delivering effective stakeholder engagement programmes.
- Able to explain complex/technical, regulatory, policy, commercial and operational information, in a way that is relevant and supports decision making.
- Able to identify and communicate potential impacts of sector changes on the rollout and Smart Energy GB.
- Excellent communication skills: the ability to write and present succinctly, adapting approach to relevant stakeholder groups, with the ability to influence.

- Energy or similar regulated sector experience.
- Good understanding of the commercial pressures, strategic considerations and typical planning processes used within marketing and communications divisions of an organisation.
