Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs

Pay Rate: £95.00 per day

Location: Tamworth

Hours: Day-to-Day Supply and Full-Time Positions Available Term Time Only

Smart Education is recruiting Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist secondary setting in the Tamworth area, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated complex behaviours. The school provides a therapeutic, trauma-informed learning environment with small class sizes and a strong focus on emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and re-engagement with learning. This role is ideal for Teaching Assistants who are confident, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people who require consistency, structure, and understanding.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH and complex needs

  • Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in lessons, interventions and structured activities
  • Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional support strategies
  • Work 1:1 or with small groups as required
  • Support pupils during transitions, social times and learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and independence
  • Maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
