Smart Education is currently recruiting for a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a secondary SEMH school in Bilston. This is a rewarding temp-to-perm opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored support to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. You will help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while building positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support students both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils with social skills, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Help maintain a safe and structured learning environment
