Smart Education is currently recruiting for an Unqualified Teacher to join a specialist SEN setting in Birmingham supporting pupils within the EYFS phase. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school supports primary-aged pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, providing a highly nurturing and structured environment focused on communication, sensory learning, independence and emotional development.

This role would suit someone with substantial experience working with children with complex needs, who is confident leading learning activities and supporting pupils with highly individual learning and communication styles.

Job requirements:

  • Substantial experience working with children with complex SEN needs
  • Experience within EYFS, SEN school or specialist provision
  • Confident leading classroom activities and routines
  • Understanding of sensory learning and communication-based approaches
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Enhanced Child or Child/Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one in a timely manner)
  • Ability to provide 24 months of recent references

Role responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning within an EYFS complex needs class
  • Deliver engaging and sensory-based learning activities
  • Support pupils with communication, interaction and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and therapy staff
  • Help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
  • Support pupils’ independence, personal development and wellbeing
