Smart Education is currently recruiting for an ICT / Maths Teacher to work within a specialist setting in Kings Norton, supporting pupils aged 8–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who has experience working in PRU, Alternative Provision or similar settings, and is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.

The school provides a nurturing and structured environment, focused on giving pupils a second chance to succeed. With small class sizes and a strong pastoral approach, staff work closely with pupils to support both their education and personal development, promoting values such as positivity, respect, independence and resilience.

Job requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching ICT and Maths
  • Proven experience working with challenging behaviour (PRU, AP or similar)
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service
  • Able to clear compliance and provide references covering 24 months
  • Available to start immediately

Role responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging ICT and Maths lessons
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH
  • Manage behaviour effectively using a calm, consistent approach
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with pastoral teams and support staff
  • Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment
