We are excited to announce a vacancy for a full-time Non-Qualified SEN Teacher specialising in Art, working with students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role is based in a unique, nurturing environment designed to engage students emotionally and academically. The successful candidate will deliver group sessions in a "homely" setting, ensuring students feel secure while receiving a high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, target-based Art lessons tailored to students’ needs
  • Build trusting relationships to support students’ emotional and academic development
  • Implement behaviour management strategies with a focus on resolution and reflection
  • Promote outdoor learning by integrating it into lessons wherever possible
  • Monitor and assess student progress using assessment software
  • Embed British values and opportunities for students’ social and cultural development
  • Mark students' work and provide feedback in line with the marking policy
  • Contribute to students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and professionals
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and moderation sessions
  • Engage with the local community through planned educational sessions

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children with ASC
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, parents, and carers
  • Experience delivering education outside of a conventional classroom setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and resilience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team Teach or relevant safe handling training
  • First Aid certification
  • Autism Level 1 & 2 qualifications
