We are excited to announce a vacancy for a full-time Non-Qualified SEN Teacher specialising in Art, working with students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role is based in a unique, nurturing environment designed to engage students emotionally and academically. The successful candidate will deliver group sessions in a "homely" setting, ensuring students feel secure while receiving a high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, target-based Art lessons tailored to students’ needs
- Build trusting relationships to support students’ emotional and academic development
- Implement behaviour management strategies with a focus on resolution and reflection
- Promote outdoor learning by integrating it into lessons wherever possible
- Monitor and assess student progress using assessment software
- Embed British values and opportunities for students’ social and cultural development
- Mark students' work and provide feedback in line with the marking policy
- Contribute to students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and professionals
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and moderation sessions
- Engage with the local community through planned educational sessions
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children with ASC
- Understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, parents, and carers
- Experience delivering education outside of a conventional classroom setting
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and resilience
Preferred Qualifications
- Team Teach or relevant safe handling training
- First Aid certification
- Autism Level 1 & 2 qualifications
