We’re looking for a natural networker and seasoned communicator to join our growing team as Senior External Communications Manager . Reporting to the Head of External Communications, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining DCC’s reputation across Westminster, Whitehall, and the energy industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong political awareness, media know-how, and the ability to tell compelling stories that resonate with a range of audiences—from policymakers and journalists to industry stakeholders.

What will you be doing?
- Support the Head of External Communications in developing and delivering our external communications strategy.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Parliament, UK Government, and the media.
- Work closely with our policy team to manage high-quality submissions to government consultations and parliamentary committees.
- Create impactful briefings, speeches, and opinion pieces for senior leaders.
- Manage daily media activity including journalist briefings, press releases, and OpEds.
- Help lead our digital communication channels, including our corporate website and social media.
- Deputise for the Head of External Communications when needed.
- Support capability development within the external communications team.
What are we looking for?
- A confident networker and influencer with a proven ability to drive change internally and externally.
- Strong working knowledge of Westminster, Whitehall, and the UK political process.
- Media-savvy with experience in a press office or communications environment.
- A compelling storyteller with excellent writing and verbal skills.
- Strong presence and credibility at senior levels in commercial or political environments.
- Experience in regulated sectors such as energy or water.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-profile environments.
- Previous experience in an agency setting (desirable).
