Smart DCC is looking for an exceptional Senior Economic Regulation Manager to help shape the future of one of the UK’s most critical national infrastructures. As we move into a brand‑new ex ante price control framework, this is your chance to influence how DCC operates for years to come. You’ll work at the centre of strategic decision‑making — partnering with Ofgem, engaging customers, and advising senior leaders — to build a business plan worth over half a billion pounds a year and ensure we deliver real value for consumers and the energy industry. It’s a rare and exciting opportunity to help define how the smart energy network is regulated for the future.
You’ll be right at the heart of DCC’s transition, leading major elements of our business plan, improving planning processes, and ensuring our activities reflect customer needs and regulatory expectations. By driving high‑quality economic analysis and shaping conversations with Ofgem and industry stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in building a smarter, more efficient and more consumer‑focused energy system for Great Britain.
How you will contribute to transforming energy and shaping the future.
- Lead elements of DCC’s ex ante business planning process, coordinating inputs from teams across the organisation and assuring the quality of business plan outputs.
- Engage with customers to gather and incorporate feedback into DCC’s planned activities.
- Represent DCC in discussions with Ofgem on aspects of the price control framework and business plan determinations.
- Provide regulatory advice and economic insight to support high‑quality decision‑making across DCC.
- Support the development and embedding of improved planning processes to ensure DCC can operate effectively under the new price control regime.
Your skills that will enable us to fulfil our purpose:
- Experience working in government, a regulator, consultancy or a regulated business, ideally with exposure to economic regulation, price controls or incentives.
- Strong analytical and written communication skills, able to simplify complex issues for senior audiences (including ExCo).
- Experience leading or coordinating, cross‑functional projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to balance diverse views and promote evidence‑based positions.
- Highly organised, proactive, resilient, and aligned with DCC’s values: make a difference, act with integrity, be accountable.
