We’re looking for a strategic, analytical and highly collaborative Policy Manager to help shape DCC’s policy positions on key topics in the energy sector. You’ll explore how smart meter data and DCC network capabilities can support national priorities such as tackling fuel poverty, accelerating energy efficiency and enabling energy system flexibility. Your insights will guide DCC’s business strategy, strengthen our external credibility and support meaningful engagement with industry, government and consumer organisations.
You’ll lead policy development across emerging areas, combining research, stakeholder insight and cross-business collaboration to develop evidence-based policy stances. Your work will contribute to the UK's smart and sustainable future by helping DCC articulate how smart data and digitalisation can deliver public value and energy system transformation.
How you will contribute to transforming energy and shaping the future:
- Lead and own specific areas of policy, acting as DCC’s subject matter expert on topics such as fuel poverty, energy efficiency, flexibility, and digitalisation.
- Conduct extensive policy scanning to identify opportunities, risks and potential innovation funding.
- Develop proactive thought leadership and lead reactive responses to consultations, shaping propositions and projects aligned with policy priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with a broad network of external stakeholders including industry, government, academia and consumer groups.
- Share policy intelligence across DCC, ensuring teams are informed and confident in articulating aligned policy positions.
Your skills that will enable us to fulfil our purpose:
- Extensive knowledge of the UK energy market and current sector developments.
- Strong understanding of the role of data and digitalisation in the energy system.
- Experience working in or with government, local authorities or regulated industries on policy development.
- Excellent research, writing and communication skills, comfortable presenting up to Board level.
- Highly collaborative and well-organised, able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
