We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Test Assurance Engineer to play a critical role in assuring the quality of DCC’s products and services across both Change and BAU portfolios. Sitting within our Technology Integration and Assurance directorate, you will define and drive test assurance activities across key delivery phases, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with business and regulatory expectations. This is a role for someone who thrives in a structured, highly regulated environment and enjoys collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will help ensure that new and evolving smart metering services meet the highest quality standards before entering live operation. By assuring testing across Service Providers, our Systems Integrator, and Testing Participants, you’ll play a key part in maintaining the integrity of the national smart metering network. Your work will support reliable, secure services that enable innovation in the energy sector and contribute to the UK's smart and sustainable future.
- Define and deliver assurance activities across PIT, SIT, and UIT phases, ensuring adherence to governance and completion criteria.
- Assure Service Provider and Systems Integrator testing deliverables, including plans, scenarios, traceability, and exit reports.
- Audit testing execution through evidence reviews, defect assessment, and risk-based witnessing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for testing activities, collaborating across Business Analysis, Architecture, Testing, Operations, Programmes, and external partners.
- Drive completion activities, develop Test Completion Reports, and secure approvals through internal and external governance forums such as TAG and TAB.
Your skills that will enable us to fulfil our purpose:
- 5+ years’ experience in testing or test assurance with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies, frameworks, and best practices in regulated environments.
- Ability to influence, collaborate and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulatory bodies.
- Skilled in analysing and resolving complex testing issues, risks, and defects to required timescales.
- Confident preparing and presenting technical reports, adapting content for varied audiences.
Travel to other DCC offices, Service Provider sites, and Customer locations will be required.
