We are a privately owned, debt-free group of companies that consists of 4 business units: Smart Currency Business (Corporate Clients), Smart Currency Exchange (Private Clients), Your Overseas Home, and Smart Fintech. We have a healthy balance sheet and a huge appetite for growth - our aim is to massively scale in the next 5 years, and this role is seen as a fundamental hire for the next phase of our journey.
Role Overview
The Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely management information and ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the finance function. The role combines strong accounting capability with commercial insight, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will provide regular financial insight to the business, translate numbers into actions, and help build robust, scalable finance processes. This is a hands-on role within a straightforward business, where well-designed and watertight processes ensure the finance function operates efficiently without unnecessary complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Information & Commercial Insight
- Produce high-quality management information on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring it is accurate, relevant, and clearly presented.
- Work closely with stakeholders to interpret financial information, identify trends, understand performance drivers, and agree actions arising from the data.
- Prepare and review monthly management account slides, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency across reporting periods.
- Build and maintain P&L, balance sheet, and performance dashboards using business intelligence tools to support ad-hoc and strategic business requests.
- Produce financial analysis covering departmental trends, revenue streams, margins, and cost of sales to support business planning and decision-making.
- Partner with the CEO and Finance Director to analyse profitability drivers and identify cost-saving opportunities through process and vendor optimisation.
- Financial Operations & Control
- Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function, including: Recording, approval, and payment of supplier invoices, commission processing and payments, and expense management.
- Redesign invoicing and payment collection processes to improve debtor tracking, reduce aged receivables, and strengthen cash flow.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reviews on a quarterly basis.
- Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
- Maximise automation of financial workflows by migrating accounting processes into Xero and Syft.
- Develop and maintain API integrations between internal systems and accounting platforms to enable real-time financial data flow.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to finance and accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

- Proven experience delivering end-to-end finance processes up to management accounts level.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
- A keen interest in business, technology, and process improvement.
- Experience in the FX industry is not required.
- A strong communicator who can explain financial information clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
- A track record of delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
- Highly organised, deadline-driven, and passionate about accuracy and quality.
