We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join the Smart Communications Enterprise Architecture Team. You will work closely with development and operations to make our SaaS platform operate efficiently and securely. Your primary focus will be to work on SAAS offerings in the COLO environment.

The enterprise architecture team is responsible for infrastructure and application deployment architecture and implementation in private and public clouds. The team is also responsible for the performance testing for new releases, capacity planning, scaling and application monitoring. As a part of the team, you will get an opportunity to work and learn about a wide range of technologies and operation systems in our public and private cloud deployments.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • This role will be 60% operational, focused on improving & supporting front-line SAAS operations. The focus will centre on application deployment, resiliency & quality standards.
  • Managing production release deployments of our SaaS platform.
  • Working on Salesforce integration for tenancy management.
  • Enhancing the efficiency of solutions in collaboration with developers and operations.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues in our production environment.
  • Strong emphasis on SRE as an engineering function focused on architecture, design & automation.
  • Joining a paid on-call out-of-hours rota for resolving system issues.
  • Working outside core hours for systems maintenance tasks on evenings, mornings and weekends from time to time (paid).

What we're looking for:

Must have skills and experience:

  • Commercial experience with Linux and Windows.
  • Experience with git version control system.
  • Solid experience running services on Kubernetes in Production.
  • Good security awareness when designing and implementing changes to infrastructure.
  • Self-Driven, able to take responsibility and work on complex projects through to completion.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code approach to managing deployments.
  • Familiarity with configuration and deployment management (Scripting, Visualisation, AWS, Unix, Java, Databases, Kubernetes, Docker etc).
  • Experience working in a compliant systems environment such as ISO 27001, SOC or PCI-DSS.
  • Incident, change & problem management experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL relational databases.
