Our dynamic operations team are looking to hire an enthusiastic Systems Engineer to join a team of first-class technologists! The Operations Team supports our internal systems and our SaaS Services. We use a wide variety of deployment models and technologies offering opportunities to improve your skills and experience, including Azure PaaS, IaaS, VMWare, Amazon EC2 Public Cloud, Windows and Linux Servers.

Who are you? An experienced Systems Engineer with a strong VMWare background who understands how to manage, patch and upgrade systems infrastructure, has experience working within a Security and Compliance controlled environment. We are looking for a Systems Engineer who is comfortable in working with private and public Cloud environments and Software Systems. You're hungry to learn more, using your skills to help the company become more agile and grow.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Collaborating with a global team of highly competent Engineers and Administrators to provide support for the customer and corporate estates.
  • Take projects from start to finish in a complex working environment, coordinating with customers and corporate departments.
  • Leading successful business critical projects past the finish line with creativity, while adhering to strict standards of change, security, and environmental controls.
  • Monitoring and Repairing Server Operating Systems and Applications.
  • Performing Patch Upgrades on Server Operating Systems and Applications.
  • Maintaining Service Availability Targets.
  • Maintaining Service Confidentiality and Integrity.
  • Collaborating with corporate users and other administrators, diagnosing and resolving issues in our production environments.
  • Learning Technologies to improve yourself and the capabilities of the Team.
  • Looking for ways to improve the service availability and recovery times.
  • Working on a paid On-Call Rota for out of Hours Cover.
  • Working on Designated Tasks outside normal working hours as required by the role.

What we're looking for:

Must have skills/experience:

  • Virtualization Experience – A strong VMWare background, including managing multiple clusters, licensing, installation, upgrades, patching and securing.
  • Cloud environments – Experience in AWS and/or Azure.
  • Automation Experience – Using tools like PowerShell.
  • Operating Systems – You must have a good working knowledge of Windows being able to perform installations and configurations on these environments without help.
  • Networking – Basic Network knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VLANs, what they mean and their practical uses.
  • Monitoring Systems – You must have a good working knowledge of configuring and using Monitoring Systems. We use Zabbix, Azure and StatusCake.
  • ITIL – You must understand the basic principles of ITIL, including Change Management, Problem Management and Incident Management.
  • Troubleshooting – You must be able to take on a technical problem that we are facing in our Application/Infrastructure and restore service according to play books.
  • Security & Compliance – You must have practical experience operating in a compliance and security monitored environment. We operate PCI DSS, SOC2, HIPAA and ISO 27001.

Advantageous skills/experience:

  • SAN Storage – Knowledge of SAN systems, we use NetApp FAS, and Dell Unity.
  • Security – Knowledge of, experience with and/or education in IT Security is advantageous.

Salary will depend on your experience and will be highly competitive.
