Senior Devops Engineer AWS

We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join the Smart Communications Enterprise Architecture Team. You will be working on our Pure Cloud SAAS offering in AWS and your role will be to provide your expertise in AWS services to help us maintain and enhance our service infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will be proficient in operating Kubernetes clusters in Production and also have extensive experience with AWS services more generally. You will enjoy working with Kubernetes but are also happy to work on cloud solutions with other AWS compute components (EC2 / ECS / Lambda).

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Gain a deep understanding of Smart Communications existing infrastructure architecture in order to enhance where required.
• Design, implement and maintain scalable, secure and cost-effective solutions on the AWS platform.
• Evaluate and recommend AWS services based on project requirements.
• Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure as code.
• Work with other teams to assist with AWS-related tasks and queries.
• Work with the Security team to maintain and improve the security posture of the service.
• Support Pure Cloud and SmartIQ release rollout in AWS.
• Support availability of the Pure Cloud Deployment in multiple AWS regions by participation on-call rota (paid).

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience as a DevOps engineer with a focus on AWS.
• Comprehensive experience of creating solutions using infrastructure as code.
• Solid experience running services on Kubernetes in Production.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and AWS services.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling.
• Good understanding of AWS networking and Infrastructure.
• Good security awareness when designing and implementing changes to infrastructure.
• Self-Driven, able to take responsibility and work on complex projects through to completion.
• Production experience working with all or most of the following AWS services: EKS, ECS, Lambda, EC2, VPC and ALB, AWS WAF, S3, EFS, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM.
• Any experience with Apache Pulsar would be a plus but this is not a requirement.
