At Smart, our mission is to transform retirement, savings and financial wellbeing, across all generations, around the world.

As part of the Data Analytics team within the Finance function and reporting to the Lead Data Analyst, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver high-quality analysis, reporting and data-driven insights that support business decision-making. You are naturally curious, enjoy exploring and interpreting data to solve problems and take pride in producing accurate, well-structured outputs. Strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of audiences and a high level of organisation are essential for success in this role.

The Data Analytics team partners closely with the business to understand data needs, translate them into scalable analytics solutions and continuously improve the quality, usability and accessibility of data across the organisation. If you enjoy discussing data, finding smart ways to apply it and helping others become more data literate, you will be a great fit for the team.

What you will do:

  • Partner with stakeholders to define analytics requirements and identify the correct data points to answer business questions.
  • Design, build and maintain BI reports and dashboards used across the organisation, including Board-level KPI reporting.
  • Develop and maintain data solutions in the data warehouse, working closely with data engineering where required.
  • Monitor, audit and improve data quality and reporting reliability.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, insights and opportunities and communicate findings clearly using appropriate visualisation tools.
  • Assess the downstream impact of data and reporting changes to ensure existing outputs are not disrupted.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and better data processes.
  • Support data literacy initiatives, enabling stakeholders to self-serve data more effectively.

Who we are looking for:

  • 3+ years’ experience in data analysis, with focus on data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Advanced SQL experience, including writing, troubleshooting, and optimising complex queries.
  • Experience translating stakeholder requirements into effective analytics solutions and advising stakeholders on best approaches.
  • Strong experience in data storytelling and communicating insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience analysing user journeys or behavioural data.
  • Financial services experience is desirable; pension industry experience is a plus.

Required technical skills:

  • SQL – extensive experience; we use AWS Redshift as our data warehouse.
  • Python – for data manipulation, analysis and automation.
  • Tableau – for dashboarding and data visualisation.
  • Git / GitHub – experience using version control for managing analytics code, collaborating with others and reviewing changes.
  • AWS – familiarity with cloud-based scheduling and task orchestration tools.
