Overview

We are looking for people who have worked in the telecoms industry as Installation Engineers with experience at heights and in the telecommunications field.

This is a FTTP install project with upskilling/training provided and potential long-term career progression over several years.

You must hold a valid SA001 / SA002 / NRSWA unit 2.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to customers' houses and premises
  • Liaise with customers to ensure installations can take place
  • Adhere to Health and Safety legislation
  • Work at height — climbing ladders safely
  • Work in underground telecommunications chambers and street cabinets
  • Install fibre cable to customer premises
  • Install a network connection point in customer premises
  • Explain the new connection to customers and ensure they are fully satisfied

Qualifications

  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Must be over 21 years of age (for company vehicle insurance)
  • Confident working at height and in underground network
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Hold a valid SA001 / SA002 / NRSWA street works Operative unit 2 card (desirable)
  • Hold or have held PIA accreditations (desirable)
  • Risk assessment and hazard identification with a strong focus on Health and Safety practices

What’s on offer for successful candidates?

  • All equipment provided – tooling, PPE and uniform
  • Vehicle with fuel card
  • Training provided for various activities
  • Contract Duration & Rates
  • This is a long-term contract role and you will be paid for the jobs you complete. Average completions per day are 4, with some candidates completing 6-7 per day.
  • Full install job rates are £50 per job and come with a fuel card.
  • Partial install job rates (step 1 or step 2) are £25 per job.
  • Sub Provide installs are £16 per job.
  • Once up to speed, you should be doing 4 jobs per day on average, up to 6-7 jobs at peak.
  • You are paid self-employed CIS via a payroll company. Wages are paid weekly, 2 weeks in arrears.
  • Retention pot up to £500 is held to protect company assets.

It reduces as you complete installs; once you reach £500, no more retention is taken.

Any speeding or parking fines, or damage to customer property, van, or tools, may be deducted from this pot.

The remaining balance is returned 28 days after leaving and returning the van and tools.

  • This is physical work; some equipment/materials are heavy
  • Samsara system is used as a live CCTV/location finder for health and safety

  • 3 jobs per day = £34k per annum
  • 4 jobs per day = £46k per annum
  • 5 jobs per day = £57k per annum
  • 6 jobs per day = £69k per annum
